Incident Update: Smart charging session optimization outage

  • Cause: A fault in our vehicle‑communication service prevented the smart‑charging optimizer from receiving vehicle information.
  • Compounding factor: Concurrent Azure platform networking issues masked the underlying problem, delaying detection.
  • Impact: Users saw a “Smart Charging could not start, due to vehicle communication issues” screen and the session could not be optimized. No data loss or security impact occurred.
  • Resolution: The vehicle‑communication service was repaired and deployed on 10 Oct 2025 08:15 UTC. After verification, session optimization then resumed normal operation.
  • Next steps: We are completing a post‑mortem, enhancing monitoring of both our vehicle service and smart charging service, and adding early‑warning alerts to prevent similar outages.
